How a run goes

Every run is different. You pick the route, the relics and the risks. If your ship gets popped, you start again from the first floor with what you've learned.

1. 
   Step 1

   Pick your ship

   Three ships, each with its own health, speed, way of shooting and set of relics.

2. 
   Step 2

   Chart a course

   Choose your path across the star map: fights, shops, strange events and tough elites.

3. 
   Step 3

   Build your shot

   Stack relics and boosts. Burn, freeze, zap, burst and pierce until your hearts fill the screen.

4. 
   Step 4

   Beat the boss

   Each area ends in a boss fight. The first is Mother Mochi, and whatever you do, don't let her eat your hearts.

Choose your ship

Your ship flies with you for the whole run. Each one plays differently and has nine relics only it can find.

All-rounder

Sweetheart

Steady and strong. Heals after every elite, and her relics add bursts of hearts and big Grand Gestures.

Speedy

Zippy

Small and fast. Doubles every On hit effect and loves a critical hit. Easy to dodge with, hard to master.

Heavy hitter

Lancer

Big hearts that hit hard and pierce through invaders. Flies and shoots slower, but clears a wave fast.

Meet the invaders

They're adorable. They also want you gone. New kinds join the waves as you climb, each with its own trick.

Elites

Queen BeeDives at you with her stinger.

Big EyeWatch out for its laser.

Moon MothLight the lanterns to beat her.

Bosses

Mother MochiBoss of the first area. She's very, very hungry.
